Cultus Artem presents a preview of The Flats, the upcoming collection of fine jewelry from artist and designer Holly Tupper. The Flats draws upon the xeric landscape of Tupper’s family ranch, located along the Camino Real, a historic trail in South Texas first forged during the Spanish colonial era. At the ranch, hidden among the chaparral, undulations are shaped by sidewinding rattlesnakes finding respite from the sun-warmed sand. Javelinas and feral hogs trace patterns of their own on earth left fractured and windswept from the region’s dry season. Steeped in personal memory, each piece in the collection inherits this topography, with the irregular forms of nature’s own mark-making transcribed in 18k gold.
