The Art of Adornment
Cultus Artem is a luxury fragrance, skincare and jewelry house founded and led by Holly Tupper and based in San Antonio, Texas. Originally established in the 1990s in Singapore, the house was renamed Cultus Artem in 2015. Each collection is crafted with intention in small quantities in the spirit of skilled artisans of centuries past. Cultus Artem derives its name from the Latin “cultus,” meaning the practice of adornment, and “artem,” the root word for art, or the conscious arrangement of elements to affect the senses and emotions.

Across all three collections, Cultus Artem explores traditional, time-intensive techniques as a means to transform rare, precious materials into distinctive sensorial compositions.Transcending an adherence to any one tradition, Tupper’s collections instead draw upon a tapestry of global influences. Having lived and worked on three different continents, her training spans traditional Chinese goldsmithing, ancient Western jewelry fabrication techniques like solderless fusing, and modernist jewelry crafted from “found” objects, among other practices. The resulting compositions forge a visionary design vernacular all their own — steeped in sensory memories and centuries-old traditions, each of Tupper’s works across fragrance, skincare and jewelry are envisioned in three dimensions, creating sensorial encounters that are both personal and universal.

Adornment as a Sensory Language

Throughout the history of high jewelry, the world’s most revered maisons have never confined themselves to a single form of expression. Houses such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpel, Chanel, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, JAR, and Taffin, to name a few, have long embraced fragrance alongside jewelry, recognizing that true luxury is experienced not only through what we see, but through what we feel and sense.
For designer Holly Tupper this connection is deeply personal and entirely natural. Tupper’s work is guided by a fascination with the tactile, sensory, and visual experiences that shape our relationship to beauty. Jewelry, fragrance, and skin care are not separate disciplines in her mind, but rather different expressions of the same creative language. Whether sourcing exquisite gemstones, composing scents, or developing skin formulations, her process is rooted in patience, craftsmanship, and a reverence for materials.

Jewelry captures light and movement. Fragrance captures memory and atmosphere. Skin care prepares the canvas on which both are experienced. Each discipline informs the others, creating a world where adornment is not simply worn, but felt. While Cultus Artem is known for its Fine Jewelry collections, the brand itself exists within a broader philosophy — one where the rituals of scent, touch, and adornment come together to create a complete sensory experience.
